The word cartoon has various meanings, based on several very different forms of visual art and illustration. The term has evolved over time.

The original meaning was in fine art, and there cartoon meant a preparatory drawing for a piece of art such as a painting or tapestry.

The somewhat more modern meaning was that of humorous illustrations in magazines and newspapers. Even more recently there are now several contemporary meanings, including creative visual work for print media, for electronic media, and even animated films and animated digital media.

When the word cartoon is applied to print media, it most often refers to a humorous single-panel drawing or gag cartoon, most of which have captions and do not use speech balloons. The word cartoon is not often used to refer to a comic strip.

Cartoon character toys are some of the most widely distributed toys in the world and some of the most lucrative for toy companies to produce. Toys that have cartoon characters on them or are based on specific cartoons are typically more expensive than toys without characters on them and the reason is not all about licensing agreements. Around the holidays, it is typically the cartoon character toys that every parent is looking for and they are typically the toys that sell out first.

When I was 4 or 5, I watched cartoon every day. Start I wake up from sleep until the clock shown at 10 a.m. Then continued at the evening...Until one day, my father told me to take the moral value for each cartoon that I see. And I start think "cartoon also have the moral value". Now we know, cartoon is the alternative to teach children for the real life. But not all the cartoon is good for children because nowadays, have some cartoon teach child to be a person that have bad attitude. Why children like to watch cartoon????

Children like cartoons mostly because they can basically “see” their imagination come to life. Impossible things taking place right in front of a child who has impossible ideas in their head. In that manner the cartoons somewhat speak to children. Besides that, cartoons are funny most of the time. Children love cartoons also because there are characters the children can relate to. Also, they are attracted to the colors and differences between the characters.

"Think of Hey, Arnold!" for example. Arnold has a football shaped head, but he's really nice and people like him. Kids like that because it shows someone different and everybody likes him. Children always want to be good people and they want others to like them.
